Breaking Down Feldman's Pitching Line

Ryan Braun was 2-5 with 1 triple (his 1st), 1 double (his 8th), 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored against the Dodgers.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-2 with 2 BBs and 1 run scored against the Angels.

Ike Davis was 1-3 with 1 BB against the Reds.

Ian Kinsler was 0-4 against the A's.

Gabe Kapler was 0-3 against the Mariners.

Scott Feldman picked up his 3rd loss of the season. He went 7 innings and gave up 7 runs on 10 hits, 3 BBs, and 4 Ks against the A's. Feldman gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and 1 BB in the first 2 innings alone. But in the 5 innings that ensued, he only gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 BBs.

I'd say he took one for the team here, saving his bullpen. Not a good outing any way you slice it - especially against a team like the A's - but Feldman did show some resiliency in the last 5 innings. And he was perfect in the 5th, 6th, and 7th inning.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up 1 run on 1 hit, 1 BB, and 1 K against the Rangers.

I think Feldman was left out there strategically to allow him to work out some of the kinks. And the last three innings proved that it was worthwhile. This outing, at least in my humble opinions, will set him up for a strong rest of the year.

Braun is having an amazing year.
