Feldman Moved To The Pen

The Texas Rangers have moved Scott Feldman to the bullpen and replaced him with Rich Harden in the rotation. This is a significant demotion for the man who started Opening Day, but with a 5.46 ERA and a 1.601 WHIP, it's not unexpected.

Batting 3rd, Kevin Youkilis was 1-3 with 1 BB (IBB), 1 HBP, 1 double (his 26th and 200th career), and 1 run scored against the Tigers.

Batting cleanup, Ryan Braun was 1-3 with 1 BB and 1 double (his 27th) against the Astros.

Batting 8th, Danny Valencia was 1-3 against the Mariners. With Nick Punto on the DL, it looks like Valencia will get regular playing time at third base.

Batting 5th, Ike Davis was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Diamondbacks.

Youk No Longer The Cleanup Man?

Batting 3rd, Kevin Youkilis was 1-3 with 1 BB, 1 HBP, and 1 run scored against the Tigers.

Batting 8th, Danny Valencia was 1-3 with 1 BB against the Mariners.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Diamondbacks.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 against the Astros.

Another Stint On The DL For Kinsler

Ian Kinsler was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 28, with a strained left groin. The Rangers' GM said Kinsler will likely return in "mid-to-late-August."

Batting cleanup, Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 HR (his 15th), 3 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Cardinals.

Brad Ausmus was 1-2 with 1 BB against the Padres.

Gabe Kapler was 0-3 against the Tigers.

Breslow Saves The Day

Kevin Youkilis was 1-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 19th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Angels.

Ryan Braun was 1-4 with 1 double (his 26th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Reds.

Ike Davis was 1-1 with 2 RBIs against the Cardinals.

Batting 7th, Danny Valencia was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Royals.

Ian Kinsler had the night off. He acknowledged that he has been dealing with soreness in his leg. Don't be surprised if he's sidelined for a few games.

Gabe Kapler was used a late inning defensive replacement in right field against the Tigers.

Craig Breslow picked up his 1st save of the season. He pitched 2/3 of an inning on 2 Ks against the Rangers. It was Breslow's 2nd career save and his 1st since 2008 when he was on the Twins.

Oh Danny Boy, The Balls, The Balls Are Flying

Batting 6th, Danny Valencia was 4-5 with 1 double (his 7th) and 3 RBIs against the Royals. Over his last 4 games, Valencia is 14-19 with 1 BB, 1 HR, 4 doubles, 8 RBIs, and 6 runs scored.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored against the Cardinals.

Batting 3rd, Kevin Youkilis was 0-3 with 2 BBs (1 IBB) against the Angels.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 with 1 RBI against the Reds.

Ian Kinsler was 0-5 against the A's.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings on 1 hit and 1 BB against the Rangers.

Danny Swinging The Bat Like Manny

Batting 8th, Danny Valencia was 4-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 1st), 2 doubles, (his 5th and 6th), 4 RBIs, and 4 runs scored against the Royals. Wow, what a game! Doesn't get much better than hitting your first HR off Zack Greinke, and it was a grand slam. Valencia also became the first Twin to have his 1st HR be a grand slam.

Batting 3rd, Kevin Youkilis was 3-5 with 1 run scored and 1 SB (his 4th) against the Angels. It's a little unusual that Youk was in the 3-hole tonight, as he's been a fixture at cleanup the entire season. This was only the 2nd game all year that he's batted 3rd.

Ryan Braun was 0-2 with 1 BB against the Reds. His BA has dipped below .280. This is neither here nor there, but it figures he would have a down year after I drafted him. Guess I won't be making that mistake again...

Valencia Capitalizing On Playing Time

Batting 7th, Danny Valencia was 3-5 with 1 run scored against the Orioles. That's 2 games in a row with 3 hits.

Ian Kinsler was 2-5 with 2 runs scored against the Angels.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 double (his 20th) against the Dodgers.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 against the Nationals.

Gabe Kapler was used as a pinch runner against the Indians.

Craig Breslow picked up his 9th hold of the season. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings on 1 hit and 1 K against the White Sox.

Ausmus Will Call It A Career At Season's End

Ryan Braun was 2-5 with 1 HR (his 16th), 2 RBIs, 1 run scored, and 1 SB (his 13th) against the Nationals. Braun hit a walkoff single that nearly left the yard in the bottom of the 9th to win it for the Brewers.

Danny Valencia was 3-5 with 1 double (his 4th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Orioles.

Playing in his 1st game since April 8 and just his 2nd game of the season, Brad Ausmus was 1-4 with 1 RBI against the Mets. He now holds the record for most games played (1,952) by a JML, surpassing Shawn Green's mark of 1,951 games played. Ausmus says he plans on retiring when the season is over.

Ian Kinsler was 0-2 with 2 BBs and 1 SB (his 10th) against the Angels. Kinsler's 16-game hitting streak sadly came to an end tonight. It was the 2nd longest hitting streak of his career.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-4 against the Mariners.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 1-6 with 1 double (his 19th) and 1 run scored against the Dodgers.

Scott Feldman picked up his 9th loss of the season. He went 5 1/3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits, 1 BB, and 0 Ks against the Angels. Hard to believe this start actually lowered his ERA a little.

Friday, July 23, 2010

Padilla's Slow Curve Doesn't Fool Ike

Ike Davis was 1-3 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 14th), 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored against the Dodgers.

Kevin Youkilis was 2-4 with 1 run scored against the Mariners.

Ian Kinsler was 1-4 against the Angels. His hitting streak is up to 16 games now. However, he was caught stealing for the 4th time. Currently, his SB/CS ratio is at 9-4. Keep in mind the worst SB/CS ratio he's ever had occurred when he was a rookie in 2006, and that was 11-4.

Ryan Braun was 0-3 with 1 RBI against the Nationals.

Danny Valencia was 0-1 against the Orioles.

Brad Ausmus was activated from the 60-day DL a couple of days ago.

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Braun & Ike Are Locked In... Slumps

Kevin Youkilis was 3-6 with 1 run scored against the Mariners.

Ian Kinsler was 1-4 against the Angels. The streak is up to 15 games. You will recall he had a 25-game hitting streak in 2008.

Batting cleanup, Ike Davis was 0-4 against the Dodgers. He is 1 for his last 17.

Ryan Braun was 0-5 against the Pirates. He is 2 for his last 18.

Kinsler Extends Hitting Streak

Kevin Youkilis was 2-4 with 1 run scored against the A's.

Ike Davis was 0-5 with 1 BB against the Diamondbacks.

Gabe Kapler was 1-2 against the Orioles.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Boom Goes The Dynamite

Ian Kinsler was 2-5 with 1 HR (his 6th), 1 triple (his 1st), 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored against the Tigers. Kinsler has a 13-game hitting streak. Here he turns two with his bare hand.

Ryan Braun was 1-5 with 1 HR (his 15th), 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Pirates.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-5 with 1 double (his 23rd) and 1 RBI against the A's.

Ike Davis was 1-4 against the Diamondbacks.

Gabe Kapler was 0-3 against the Orioles.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 scoreless inning on 1 hit and 1 K against the Red Sox.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Feldman In A Precarious Position

Ian Kinsler was 1-6 with 1 HR (his 5th), 3 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Tigers.

Kevin Youkilis was 0-3 with 1 BB against the A's.

Danny Valencia was 0-4 with 1 BB against the Indians.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 against the Pirates.

Ike Davis was 0-4 against the Diamondbacks.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 scoreless inning on 2 Ks against the Red Sox.

Scott Feldman received a no decision. He went 5 innings and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits, 2 BBs, and 1 K against the Tigers.

With his rotation spot in jeopardy, this wasn't the start Feldman needed. The Rangers have already demonstrated they're going for it all this year, and I doubt they'll hesitate to replace Feldman with Rich Harden or Derek Holland (both will be coming off the DL soon) if they feel either pitcher is an upgrade.

More Good Stuff All Around

Ike Davis was 3-5 with 2 doubles (his 17th and 18th) and 2 RBIs against the Giants. His RBI-double off Brian Wilson in the 10th inning was the game-winner for the Mets.

Gabe Kapler was 2-4 with 1 HR (his 2nd), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Yankees.

Ryan Braun was 3-5 with 1 double (his 25th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Braves.

Kevin Youkilis was 2-3 with 1 BB and 1 run scored against the Rangers.

Danny Valencia was 2-4 against the White Sox.

Ian Kinsler was 1-4 with 1 RBI against the Red Sox.

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Good Stuff All Around

Batting 5th, Ike Davis was 2-4 with 2 HRs (his 12th and 13th), 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored against the Giants. This was Ike's 2nd multi-HR game of the year.

Kevin Youkilis was 2-4 with 1 double (his 22nd) and 2 RBIs against the Rangers. Youk's RBI-double off Cliff Lee in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs tied the game at 2 apiece. Then, in the 11th inning Youk hit a sacrifice fly to center to win the game for the Red Sox.

Ian Kinsler was 2-5 with 1 run scored and 1 SB (his 9th) against the Red Sox. Kinsler's SB was the 100th of his career. He joins Buddy Myer, Shawn Green, and Brad Ausmus as the only JMLs with 100 or more SBs.

Danny Valencia was 1-3 with 1 double (his 3rd) and 1 RBI against the White Sox. Valencia's RBI-double in the 2nd inning turned out to be the game-winner for the Twins.

Ryan Braun was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Braves.

Craig Breslow picked up his 4th win of the season. He pitched 1 scoreless inning on 1 hit and 1 BB against the Royals.

Braun Starting To Hit For More Power

Kevin Youkilis was 3-4 with 2 doubles (20th and 21st) and 1 run scored against the Rangers. He needs just 5 more doubles for 200.

Ryan Braun was 1-5 with 1 HR (his 14th), 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Braves. He has 3 HRs in his last 4 games.

Ian Kinsler was 1-5 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored against the Red Sox.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 0-3 against the Giants.

Gabe Kapler was 0-4 against the Yankees.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 scoreless inning on 2 Ks against the Royals.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Ike Moves Back To 5th In Order

Ian Kinsler was 1-5 with 1 run scored against the Red Sox.

Batting 3rd, Ryan Braun was 1-4 against the Braves.

Danny Valencia was 1-1 against the White Sox.

Kevin Youkilis was 0-4 against the Rangers.

Batting 5th, Ike Davis was 0-4 against the Giants. Now that Carlos Beltran is back, it looks like Ike won't be batting cleanup anymore. That's fine by me. The less pressure the better.

Ike Davis was 2-3 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 11th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Braves.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-4 against the Blue Jays.

Craig Breslow pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 K against the Angels.

"Let's Hug It Out"

Batting 3rd, Ryan Braun was 2-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 12th), 1 double (his 24th), 1 RBI, 3 runs scored, and 1 SB (his 12th) against the Pirates. It's about time! Braun's HR was his 1st in nearly 2 weeks, and his SB was his 1st since May 29.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-4 with 1 HBP and 1 SB (his 3rd) against the Blue Jays. Youk got snubbed - again. Justin Morneau had to withdraw from the midsummer classic because of a concussion and Paul Konerko was named his replacement.

Gabe Kapler was 1-4 with 2 RBIs against the Indians. Kapler's 2-run single in the 4th inning ended up giving the Rays all the runs they would need for the win.

Ian Kinsler was 1-4 against the Orioles. Kinsler broke up Chris Tillman's no-no in the 7th inning.

Ike Davis was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Braves.

Friday, July 9, 2010

"Deserve's Got Nothing To Do With It"

Kevin Youkilis was 1-2 with 1 HR (his 18th), 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Blue Jays. He was taken out early because it was a laugher.

Ryan Braun was 2-5 with 1 RBI against the Pirates. Braun's hit in the 6th inning ended an 0-19 skid, which he admitted was the "toughest stretch" of his career. Braun later came through in the 10th inning with a walkoff single off Evan Meek, who has been lights out this year. Maybe this will get him going again.

Ian Kinsler was 2-5 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored against the Orioles.

Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 double (his 16th) against the Braves.

Scott Feldman got a no decision against the Orioles, although he was in line for the win before Neftali Feliz gave up a grand slam to Corey Patterson in the 9th inning. Feldman went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs on 8 hits, 0 BBs, and 2 Ks. This was Feldman's 1st quality start since June 18. He certainly deserved the win. Oh well.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 inning and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits against the Angels.

Youk Snubbed

Kevin Youkilis will not be an All-Star this year, and it's a shame. Nick Swisher ended up winning the fan vote for the final AL roster spot. Although Swisher was deserving, Youk was more deserving. As was Paul Konerko. Good to see the fans got it right with Joey Votto, though.

Ian Kinsler was 2-4 with 1 BB against the Orioles.

Danny Valencia was 0-2 with 1 BB against the Blue Jays.

Ryan Braun was 0-1 against the Giants.

Ike Holding His Own At First Base

Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 double (his 15th) against the Reds. More good glove work from Ike. And here's another gem from yesterday.

Danny Valencia was 1-4 against the Blue Jays.

Ryan Braun was 0-2 against the Giants.

Kevin Youkilis was 0-5 against the Rays.

Ian Kinsler had the night off.

Craig Breslow pitched 1 scoreless inning on 1 hit against the Yankees.

Braun Scuffling Big Time

Ian Kinsler was 2-5 with 1 RBI against the Indians.

Gabe Kapler was 0-2 with 2 BBs against the Red Sox.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 against the Giants. He is 0 for his last 12.

Ike Davis was 0-4 against the Reds.

Kevin Youkilis was 0-1 against the Rays. He left the game in the 4th inning due to a spasm in his right ankle. It doesn't look like anything serious.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Kinsler's Patient Approach

Ian Kinsler was 2-3 with 2 BBs and 1 RBI against the Indians. Kinsler has a drawn at least 1 BB in each of his last 8 games.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-4 with 1 BB, 1 triple (his 5th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Rays. Youk's 5 triples this year are a career-high.

Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 BB, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Reds.

Ryan Braun was 0-5 against the Giants. I really think the Brewers should consider putting him on the DL to give his elbow time to heal because he is just not himself right now.

There Is Justice In The World

Last year, Ian Kinsler didn't make the All-Star Team in the midst of what would be a 30/30 season. Instead, Brandon Inge and his .720 OPS took his spot. One year later, and Kinsler has been graced with a little more luck than last time. Because Dustin Pedroia will be unable to play, Kinsler has been named a reserve on the AL squad behind Robinson Cano at 2B. This will be his 2nd All-Star appearance.

In spite of a down year so far in the power department, Ryan Braun made the NL squad as a starter for the 3rd year in a row. He also led all MLB outfielders in fan voting for the 3rd consecutive year.

The wild card, of course, is Kevin Youkilis. Though he is certainly deserving of what would be his 3rd All-Star appearance, he faces tough competition for the last spot on the AL roster. Fans will have an opportunity via online balloting to select the final player to make the squad. The other players up for the spot are Paul Konerko, Nick Swisher, Michael Young, and Delmon Young. It should be noted that Youk leads all of the above players in OBP, SLG, OPS, BBs, HBP, extra-base hits, WAR (Wins Above Replacement for position players), runs scored, and triples. Voting will close on Thursday at 4 p.m.

More Fireworks

Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 10th), 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored against the Nationals.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-3 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 17th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Orioles.

Gabe Kapler was 1-2 with 1 double (his 3rd) and 2 RBIs against the Twins.

Ian Kinsler was 1-3 with 1 BB against the White Sox.

Ryan Braun was 0-3 against the Cardinals.

Scott Feldman picked up his 8th loss of the season. He went 6 innings and gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits, 1 BB, and 1 K against the White Sox. Small consolation, but at least his groundball to flyball ratio was 13-5.

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Youk Provides Fireworks A Day Early

Kevin Youkilis was 2-5 with 1 HR (his 16th), 1 double (his 19th), 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored against the Orioles.

Ryan Braun was 3-6 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored against the Cardinals.

Ike Davis was 2-4 with 1 BB and 1 run scored against the Nationals. Check out this great play by Ike!

Gabe Kapler was 1-3 with 1 run scored against the Twins.

Ian Kinsler was 0-2 with 2 BBs against the White Sox.

Craig Breslow picked up his 2nd loss of the season. He pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up 1 run on 2 hits, 1 BB, and 2 Ks against the Indians.

Meet The Newest JML

It would appear that Twins' 3B prospect, Danny Valencia, is Jewish. Valencia was drafted in the 19th round in 2006 and is 25 years old. Oddly enough, he was teammates with Ryan Braun at the University of Miami in 2005. Baseball America has the rookie ranked as the 6th top prospect in the Twins' organization. He made his MLB debut on June 3.

Tonight, Valencia was 2-2 with 1 BB and 1 RBI against the Rays. His RBI-single in the 7th inning was ultimately the game-winner. Pretty sweet way to introduce this guy, huh?

Ian Kinsler was 1-2 with 2 BBs, 1 run scored, and 1 SB (his 8th) against the White Sox.

Ike Davis was 0-3 with 1 BB, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Nationals.

Kevin Youkilis was 1-3 against the Orioles.

Ryan Braun was 1-4 against the Cardinals.

Craig Breslow picked up his 8th hold of the season. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings on 3 Ks against the Indians. His ERA is 2.70. His WHIP is 0.95. His 4.9 H/9, 9.3 K/9, and 2.53 K/BB ratio are well above his career marks.

Kinsler In A Groove

Ian Kinsler was 2-3 with 1 BB, 1 double (his 15th), and 1 RBI against the Angels. He's brought his average up to .300.

Ike Davis was 1-4 with 1 RBI against the Nationals.

Ryan Braun was 0-4 against the Cardinals.

Gabe Kapler was 0-1 against the Twins.
