Youk Reminds Us Why He's So Dangerous

Batting cleanup, Kevin Youkilis was 3-4 with 2 BBs, 1 HR (his 9th), 1 double (his 18th), 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored against the Blue Jays. Prior to this game, Youk hadn't gone yard since May 20.

Batting 3rd, Ryan Braun was 1-3 with 1 BB, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Cardinals.

Batting 6th, Danny Valencia was 1-4 with 1 run scored against the Rangers.

Batting leadoff, Ian Kinsler was 0-4 against the Twins.

John Grabow pitched 2/3 of an inning against the Phillies.

I really thought Kinsler was going to have a better year than he's having.

I think Kinsler will pick it up. The walk rate (13.6%) is up. The strike out rate (11.5%) is down. His BABIP is .234 and his LD rate is 19.5%. So, he's hitting line drives. Nothing abnormal about his groundball and flyball rates.

The updated ZiPS on FanGraphs has him with a final line of .251/.354/.426. That doesn't sound unrealistic.

Thanks for the update, Jeff. That's great news for Lavarnway. Maybe we'll see him in September...
