Marquis Brilliant Against Mariners

Batting cleanup, Danny Valencia was 0-4 against the Giants.

Jason Marquis received a no decision against the Mariners, although he earned a win. Marquis pitched 8 scoreless innings on 3 hits, 3 BBs, and 4 Ks. His groundball to flyball ratio was 14-3. He currently has a 3.53 ERA. His peripheral stats suggest this is the best he's ever pitched; he has a 3.60 FIP and 3.73 xFIP. His BABIP of .303 is actually a little high, considering his career BABIP is .285. So one would expect him to give up a few less hits moving forward. He's utilizing his changeup and cutter a lot more than he has in the past. The changeup, in particular, seems to have become his bread and butter.

Craig Breslow pitched 1/3 of an inning on 2 hits against the Mets.
