Batting 3rd, Ryan Braun was 3-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 36th), 1 double (his 27th), 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored, and 1 SB (his 21st) against the Cubs. Braun leads the NL in HRs, RBIs, OPS, and total bases. He is now 1 HR shy of his career high in a season, and we still have a lot of baseball left to play. Andrew McCuthen has slowed down considerably in the 2nd half. Braun should probably be the frontrunner to win MVP. Going by the numbers, he is the most deserving candidate at this point.
Batting 7th, Ryan Lavarnway was 0-3 with 1 BB against the Angels.
Batting 9th, Sam Fuld was 0-3 against the Blue Jays.
Batting cleanup, Ike Davis was 0-4 against the Phillies.
Kevin Youkilis had the day off, even though the White Sox were facing a lefty. Bad decision, Ventura.
