Marquis Freakishly Good Against The Freak

Batting 3rd, Ryan Braun was 2-4 with 1 HR (his 10th), 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Astros. Braun leads all of MLB in HRs.

Batting 6th, Ike Davis was 1-3 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 5th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Phillies.

Batting 6th, Danny Valencia was 2-4 with 2 doubles (his 2nd and 3rd) and 2 RBIs against the Royals.

Batting cleanup, Kevin Youkilis was 1-3 with 1 BB and 1 RBI against the Mariners.

Batting leadoff, Ian Kinsler was 1-5 against the A's.

Batting leadoff, Sam Fuld was 0-4 with 1 BB and 1 run scored against the Angels. Fuld is 0 for his last 13.

Jason Marquis picked up his 3rd win of the year and the 4th complete game shutout (7th complete game) of his career. Marquis pitched 9 scoreless innings on 5 hits, 0 BBs, and 7 Ks against Tim Lincecum and the Giants. His groundball to flyball ratio was 14-6. He was also 1-3 with 1 RBI at the plate. Marquis' K/BB ratio stands at 24/5, which is outstanding. His next win will be the 100th of his career.

Great game by Marquis. I wrote about his start today. Looks like the change up is the difference this year.
