A Flair For The Dramatic

A year and 3 days ago, Kevin Youkilis hit a walk-off HR in extra innings against the Yankees. Today, he hit a walk-off double in extra innings against the Rangers. Youk was 2-6 with 2 doubles (his 4th and 5th), 1 RBI, and 1 run scored. Way to go, Youk!

Ordinarily, the game Ryan Braun had today would get "top billing," but walk-offs are extraordinary. Braun was 3-4 with 1 BB, 1 HR (his 4th), 1 RBI, 1 run scored, and 1 SB (his 3rd) against the Pirates.

Gabe Kapler was 1-4 with 1 BB, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored against the White Sox.

Ike Davis was 1-4 against the Cubs. He struck out against the John Grabow. He also made a nice catch in foul territory.

Grabow picked up his 2nd hold of the season. He pitched 1/3 of an inning on 1 K against the Mets.

Jason Marquis was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to March 19, with a sore right elbow. Marquis is expected to meet with a specialist later this week. Maybe this explains why he was struggling so much.

Meanwhile, Ian Kinsler is set for a rehab assignment after testing his right ankle today in a workout. If he doesn't have any setbacks, he could return to the Rangers' lineup at the end of the month.

I knew there had to be something physically wrong with Marquis. Because nothing else would explain his performance thus far. I wonder how long he tried to live with that pain. Players need to learn to be better about that.
