Wasn't Holtzman one of the early free agents? I seem to remember him as a ground breaker in that area. He was a really good pitcher for a spell as your list clearly proves.

I'm not sure. I know Koufax and Drysdale had a salary holdout, but lost because they didn't have a union to back them up.

Nope. Memory was faulty. He was big in the union, but all of his moves were via trades.
