Exactly what it sounds like
Well, you have the best shortstop in the game. You have one of the best first basemen. Your pitching staff looks kinda weak. Buehrle and Gil(Ga)Meche have had poor springs. Haran is an accident waiting to happen. Your batters should be okay, but I'd worry about your pitching.
I actually like my pitching. Haren, Shields, and Buehrle are as reliable as anyone. Haren actually gets better every year. Danks was outstanding last season, and having watched him for most of his starts I'm 99% confident it wasn't a fluke. Meche has been solid the last 2 seasons and had a career-high in strikeouts last year. I think he'll be okay. Marmol should be a beast for the Cubs this year. Street was a bit of a gamble. Don't know what I'll get out of him in Colorado. Parra has the stuff to be a front of the rotation guy. If he puts it together this season, he'll make excellent trade bait. The positions I'm most concerned about are catcher and third base. Sandoval is as yet unproven and Gordon still hasn't had that breakout season everyone is waiting for. Kouzmanoff is a decent backup, I suppose, but his OBP was atrocious. I like Ramirez at second, but his OBP needs to improve as well. The guy I'm most curious about is Dukes. Another gamble. But he could easily be a 25-25 guy with a high OBP. And since the Dodgers finally signed Manny, I fully expect Ethier to tear it up.
Good rebuttal. Not sure I agree with it all. But your logic makes sense. You just let Gil-ga-Meche pass by? How unsporting of you. Heh! In the immortal words of Foghorn Loghorn: "I keep pitching 'em and you keep missing 'em."Maybe I should start a Bugs Bunny blog?
Little update. I dropped Garko and added Konerko.
Dropped Parra awhile back and picked up Kevin Gregg. Also just dropped DeJesus and Dukes and picked up Fred Lewis and Mike Fontenot. I am liking my team more and more.
