Locked In At The Plate, Stumbling In The Field

Ike Davis was 3-5 with 1 double (his 2nd), 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored against the Nationals. However, he committed his 3rd error at 1B.

Ryan Braun was 1-3 with 1 HR, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored against the Giants.

Adam Stern was 1-4 with 1 run scored against the Rockies.

Brad Ausmus was 0-2 with 1 BB and 1 run scored against the White Sox.

Kevin Youkilis was 0-2 with 1 BB against the Rays.

Gabe Kapler was 0-2 with 1 run scored against the Red Sox.

B.J. Rosenberg pitched 2 scoreless innings on 1 hit, 2 BBs, and 2 Ks against the Pirates.

Jason Hirsh pitched 1 scoreless inning on 1 HBP and 1 K against the Blue Jays.

John Grabow pitched 1 inning and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 K against the White Sox.

Of Rosenberg, Hirsch and Stern, which is more likely to get some MLB time this year?

Good question. Probably Rosenberg, IMO. The Phillies need to rebuild their bullpen. I think the Yankees will use Gaudin, Chamberlain, and Hughes again for their fifth starter. It's possible Hirsh could get a spot start or two. He's better than Mitre, that's for sure. If Stern makes the club, he'll primarily be used as a late inning defensive replacement and a pinch runner.

Thinking about doing a list of preseason top major league Jewish players?

Hadn't planned on it. If I made a list right now, Youkilis would be #1. His glove puts him over the top. But moving forward, Braun is the clear choice.
