On This Date In 1944...

Phil Weintraub of the old New York Giants had 11 RBIs in a game against Goody Rosen and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Weintraub hit a HR, 2 doubles, and a triple. Had he gotten 1 measly single, he would have hit for the cycle. Still, his 11 RBIs are tied for 2nd all-time.

Weintraub finished the year with 77 ribbies, so that one game accounted for 14% of the entire year's total. Amazing how those things happen.

His career .398 OBP was impressive.

And just so you know. Your blog has gotten under my skin. I root for all of your guys now and my picks at BallHype reflect that bias. Cost me a pick with your fella in Texas. :) I did pick Marquis to hit the law of averages tomorrow though and picked against him.

Haha, I knew Buehrle was going to take care of business. Well, not really. That Rangers lineup is pretty scary. As much as I hope you're wrong, I'd say it's a good bet that Marquis won't get his 4th win tomorrow.

And... who could have seen that coming?
