Batting 2nd, Kevin Youkilis was 0-4 with 1 BB and 1 run scored against the Tigers.

Craig Breslow pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 3 hits and 1 BB against the A's.

Braun Deserves Back-To-Back MVPs

He is now 1 HR shy of his career high in a season, and we still have a lot of baseball left to play. Andrew McCuthen has slowed down considerably in the 2nd half. Braun should probably be the frontrunner to win MVP. Going by the numbers, he is the most deserving candidate at this point.

Jason Marquis was placed on the 15-day DL with a broken left hand after he was hit by a liner in his last start against the Pirates. Marquis broke his non-pitching hand in the 2nd inning, but he remained in the game into the 6th inning - because he's tough like that. Marquis was a having a very solid season with the Padres.
